Today we got ourselves a GRUTT pass (2000yen/£10) which allows us free/discount admission to most of the best places and museums in Tokyo for 2 months.
We used it first to get in to the Edo-Tokyo Museum. The museum was huge with so many exhibitions about the past of Tokyo. It was also pretty reading-hefty. I think I spent more time reading than looking at exhibits! But at least there was some good english explanation. They had a lot of models and full-size replicas of buildings. It was really good.
Afterwards, we managed to get into Tokyo Sealife Park just before last admissions (the door closed about 15 seconds after we got in). The exhibitions werent as impressive as the Osaka aquarium but it was set in a beautiful place looking out into the sea and it was nice to look at things again instead of reading about them.
In the evening, we decided to explore Shibuya. Shibuya is an amazing place, especially at night when it fills with the young people surging over the giant crossing between the train stations and shopping parades. We headed into one of them and had some tonkatsu at a cheap restaurant. Shibuya is full of towering department buildings and neon signs, no wonder it attracts the younger people of Tokyo.
I am looking forward to next month when we will be staying in a capsule hotel after a night out clubbing in Shibuya.
